Living Room

Formal and functional was the look I was going for when I started planning the living room.  I despise rooms that are not used because they are too “fancy,” however I wanted this room to feel pretty.

Here is the before of the living room.  The top color was a lighter green and the bottom was a darker green.  {You can also see the before of the dining room as well}

Here are the after colors of the room.  I chose Benjamin Moore’s Stonington Gray for the top, and a color called Toasted Almond for the bottom half.  I wanted it light and airy with a sophisticated feel.

I started the room with corner shutters I had refinished over the summer in a pretty light yellow color called Windham Cream by Benjamin Moore. I also purchased an arch in a rustic white color that I ended up painting in the yellow as well.  Here are the before photos:

I placed the shutters in each corner of the living room not expecting to keep them there.  Don’t mind the mess!

Our furniture finally came.  We decided on a light beige sofa and chair.  I added some pops of yellow and blue with the throw pillows.

We ordered an awesome ottoman from Restoration Hardware for our coffee table.  It’s actually one of my favorite pieces because it’s pretty big and you can stretch your legs out on it, or if you’re a teacher like myself, you can grade and have all your papers/books spread out.  It’s nice.  I bought a vintage lantern for the center from a place in Manasquan called Sailor Trading Co.  Great place.

I bought an end table, updated the knob to a clear crystal, and added it to the side of the couch.

I found a great white floor lamp and area rug at Home Goods.  Above the sofa, I added a slate gray shelf along with miscellaneous decor items.  Here is the final product!
